Kayleigh McEnany, the former White House press secretary for former President Donald Trump and current Fox News political pundit, predicted that President Joe Biden’s next Supreme Court nominee will be a disaster.
Vice President Kamala Harris has the potential to sabotage what should be a success for the government by getting the nominee confirmed.
On Dan Bongino’s Fox News show, the former press secretary outlined how Harris might derail what should be a success for the administration.
“Vice President Kamala Harris is supposed to be helping (pick the next Supreme Court nominee). You worked in the White House, you were in the room for these conversations. Is this a political effort to save her reputation because she has failed at everything else and hope they can change the narrative?” the host said.
“For sure. Exactly, Dan,” she said. “Vice President Mike Pence was involved in a myriad of matters because he did a great job, like on Covid-19 for instance he led the task force. And he proved himself to be skillful and adept.
“Kamala Harris, she couldn’t get voting rights done. The border is up in flames. She’s failed at every task she’s been given so they said let’s give her the one done deal that we have. Or in their mind, they think it’s a done deal. 50-50 Senate, we’ll get the Supreme Court justice through. If anybody knows how to light a sure fire deal on fire, it’s Kamala Harris. You chose the one person who may tank what in your view is something that simply cannot be tanked.”
This comes after some Fox News hosts speculated that Harris would be nominated for the Supreme Court seat vacated by retiring Justice Stephen Breyer.
After liberal Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer announced his retirement last week, Fox News commentators hypothesized that Harris would match the qualities Biden is seeking for in the next Supreme Court Justice. Specifically, black, female, and young people.
“This person has to be a woman, she has to be black and she has got to be younger,” Harris Faulkner said. “Anyone thinking what I’m thinking? They do not know what to do with Kamala Harris in the White House right now. I can’t be the only person seeing this.”
Kayleigh McEnany, the show’s cohost and former White House Press Secretary for former President Donald Trump, chimed in.
“I think you’re right,” the host said. “That was playing in my mind from the moment we heard about this retirement. You know, it is, politically speaking if you are not happy with your vice president and want her in a different role, there is no greater role than the Supreme Court. It is a role that anyone would be honored to have.”
She acknowledged that there had been no reporting on Kamala Harris to the Supreme Court and that they were only speculating, but she went on.
“It’s a possibility. I think she’s at least on the shortlist and maybe it’s a position she’d readily want to consider or accept given the challenges of the vice presidency. Given the frustrations she’s incurred,” she said.
